A HANDFUL OF DUST: Works on Paper by Gawain Thomas Godwin

FEBRUARY 2015 presents Gawain Thomas Godwin’s exploration of real and imagined landscapes. These transitionalspaces, which are seen in the everyday, found in stories and pictures, are translated into drawings and paintings, played with and reimagined. The imagery is fragmented, sinister, predatory and decaying, but does not contain a sense of hopelessness. Instead there is always new growth and further opportunities for escape and creation.

Gawain Thomas Godwin graduated with a degree in Fine Art Painting from Norwich University of the Arts, which followed on from his studies in Critical Fine Art Practice at the University of Brighton. Having worked at The White Cube and South Bank Centre in London, Gawain moved back to Norwich in 2012. He currently works as a freelance Arts Educator and also at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.
