The Birdcage has been a great supporter of Dandifest since the beginning. This year The Norwich Dandies put out a call-for-submissions for art work with an appropriate bird theme, which you can see at The Bridge during April and May. If you have any work you would like to donate to the show during April, please drop it off at the bar and we will get it up on the wall. Please include your name, title, price and contact details. All donated work is for sale and ALL proceeds will go towards ‘Wing and a Prayer’ and ‘RSPB’ bird charities.
Free As A Bird is part of Dandifest!17 which features a main exhibition at St. Margaret’s Church of Art, on St. Benedicts Street (Tuesday 25 April to Saturday 6 May), with several satellite day and evening events, as well as exhibitions, around the city. Dandifest!17 will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of homosexuality becoming legal in the UK. For the full programme of events, look out for their colourful posters and flyers or check out their website.
ACORNS: Screen Prints by Various Artists from Print Club London
Acorns features a selection of screen-prints from Print Club London. All the artists shown here studied/live(d)/work(ed) in Norwich and Norfolk. We wanted to kick off exhibitions at The Bridge in 2017 with an inspirational and aspirational show, one that not only demonstrates but celebrates a city that grows and nurtures talent. Artists include Alice Stallard, Gus Farnes, Harry Malt, Maddison Graphic (who created our poster image) and Rose Stallard.
Print Club London was established in 2007 and is run by managing director Fred Higginson (Sculptor/ Illustrator M.O.L.) and director Kate Higginson. The duo work closely with iconic illustrator and creative director Rose Stallard, who brings the Print Club brand to life with her inimitable 1970s fanzine-style-artwork and edgy typography. As well as operating print studios, Print Club London aim to introduce a wider demographic to affordable, original artwork, bringing a contemporary art scene to a brand new audience. Whilst providing studio space and selling work is a key focus of the studios, the trio also work with clients on projects ranging from bespoke bags for Stella McCartney to live printing projects in store with Nike.

A round-up of the exhibition programme for The Bridge at The Birdcage in 2016. This year we changed the format to bi-monthly shows which will continue into 2017, aiming to keep the exhibitions in this unique little space varied and interesting. In 2017, Parallel Point (Alice Lee) will be sharing curatorial duties of The Bridge with Lauren Gregory and Paul Bryan in order for Alice to concentrate on her other practices. It will continue to be a place showcasing the finest in local and national, art and design talent.
